Andrew; Move to the UK!

Naked Rambler Stephen Gough has walked free from prison after spending 657 days locked up.

The 53-year-old said he was looking forward to seeing his children for the first time in years.

A naked Mr Gough was spoken to by police as he was freed from Perth Prison, but was allowed to go on his way in an apparent shift in policy from Tayside Police.

On his last release, officers arrested the former marine within 60 seconds.

Mr Gough earned the title Naked Rambler by walking unclothed from Lands End to John O'Groats after quitting his job as a lorry driver.

He has been repeatedly arrested in the street outside Perth Prison by police waiting for him to be released at the end of each sentence.

The former marine welcomed the new police response: "My opinion is that the police have thought 'the guy's not going to give up so let's have a think about it'.

"Something has changed and it is good news for me.

"What they were doing before was pre-empting complaints and now they are not."

Mr Gough said he now plans to head south and hoped to see his children.

"I haven't seen my kids for ages," he said and added that he would like to visit his mother, whom he hasn't seen in six years.

However, the 53-year-old has no intention of changing his ways.

He said: "To conform with everyone else is the easiest way but when you conform you compromise your principles.

"I am not going to give up. Stay naked is the word."

Mr Gough has spent the majority of the last decade behind bars due to his determination to live his life without clothes.

He has previously claimed arresting him for walking around naked was a breach of his human rights and his right to freedom of expression.

Tayside Police said they had a duty to uphold the law but it also a responsibility to act in the public interest.

Ch Insp Andy McCann said: "We have been working closely with our partners in law enforcement and the individual concerned in an effort to resolve this impasse.

"We hope that by exercising some discretion we can find a more satisfactory conclusion for all concerned."

or maybe there's no need..
If you’ve ever been to New York in the summer, you’ll know the meaning of “hot and bothered”.

Image

As the temperatures climb towards 40, the pavement radiates great whorls of heat haze, and car and air-con exhausts clog the air, it’s unbearable. As your bra becomes a puddle and your outfit affects all the fashionable insouciance of a used Wettex, you may find yourself longing to tear your top off - as many men do in such weather - and feel the breeze.

Which is precisely what one woman has been doing during the current east coast heat wave, because it’s perfectly legal to do so. "I'm going topless today,” she told racked(NB: assume most of these links feature bare bosoms if you’re at work). “It's to raise awareness that's it's legal for woman to be topless anywhere a guy can be without a shirt since 1992 here in New York State."

Jamie Peck from TheGloss gave it a whirl and spent a day in Central Park, sans top. At the end of her day out, it seemed the “somebody think of the children!” brigade were the only objectors: “Personally, I think that viewing a bare breast as inherently sexual and hence corrupting of innocence is silly; I’d much rather my hypothetical kid see women of all shapes enjoying the outdoors and being comfortable with their bodies than, say, two fully clothed people dry humping on a bench.”
Ha! I bet she wouldn't be so keen to go topless if she didn't have such a nice rack on her.

Indeed. Thank you, Gob, for such an interesting, uplifting, and pert-
inant item. If she needs a hand, I'd be happy to do anything she'd like
to help support her, uh, her, uh, cause. :D

Funny, my experience has been that the people most likely to get naked in public are the ones whom you'd have preferred did not.

Ah well....
The so-called 'Naked Rambler' Stephen Gough has been arrested three days after he was released from prison.

Gough, a former Royal Marine who hikes across the country naked, was arrested in Townhill, Dunfermline, this afternoon by officers from Fife Constabulary.

He was released from Perth Prison on Tuesday, having spent the past six years in the Scottish jail.

A spokesman for Fife Constabulary said he was arrested following complaints from members of the public and has been charged with breach of the peace.

The 53-year-old, from Eastleigh in Hampshire, earned the nickname by walking unclothed from Land’s End to John O’Groats after quitting his job as a lorry driver.

Naked rambler Stephen Gough has refused to wear clothes during a court appearance in Kirkcaldy.

The former Royal Marine is accused of committing a breach of the peace near a children's play park in Dunfermline on 20 July. He denies the charge.

Mr Gough, 53, from Hampshire, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court ahead of his trial later this month.

He told Sheriff Richard McFarlane he would "absolutely not" put clothes on as he was "dressed appropriately".

Mr Gough said he would never wear clothes in court as it gave him "freedom".

The rambler made his name by walking nude from Land's End to John O'Groats in 2003.

On Friday he entered the court naked, apart from brown walking boots and a pair of white socks, and sat on a white bath towel in the dock.

Bloody hell!

How sure are we that this guy isn't Andrew?

This story obviously has its humorous aspects, but it seems fairly evident to me that a person who has allowed his life to completely fall apart, allowed himself to separated from his children, and spend most of the last decade in jail, all just to walk around naked, is suffering from a serious mental disorder....

It looks a lot like the behavior of an untreated schizophrenic to me....

During all the time that this military veteran has spent in jail, has any serious effort been made to evaluate, diagnose and possibly treat, what is causing this monomaniacal obsession?

That would be mandatory Jim. It's possible he has a borderline personality disorder, which would be untreatable except by long term residential treatment, and woudl require him to be committed to change.

Well maybe there are ways he could be treated with anti-psychotics...but obviously he'd have to co-operate with that as well...

It seems to me that this fellow has somehow delusionally worked it out that he is like Gandhi or Mandela, sacrificing himself for a greater cause, when in fact all he has done is destroy his own life and cause great pain to his family for no good reason...

Very sad really....

Treatment with anti-psychotics could be done under a treatment order, but they may be of limited use in this guy's case.

NEW YORK, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Some two dozen topless women protested in a New York City park on a hot, sweaty Sunday as part of what they called "National Go-Topless Day" to draw attention to inequality in topless rights between men and women.

Image

There were topless men in the park, too, but nobody paid them much attention, a disparity, organizers said, that demonstrated the need for the event.

The topless women drew crowds of onlookers who took pictures and video with their cell phones.

"We say there is nothing wrong with the female nipple," Karen Heaven, an organizer of the event, told the crowd that quickly formed around her in Manhattan's Bryant Park. She was wearing white pants and not much else besides a purse over her shoulder. "My dog has six, I have two, but I can be put in jail for showing my nipples. It's 2012 -- what are we thinking?"

It is legal for women to go topless in public in New York City but laws vary widely across the United States. Heaven and her colleagues say discrimination is unconstitutional and they want full equality.

Similar protests were scheduled in about 30 U.S. cities and 10 around the world, organizers said.

The annual Go-Topless Day was established in 2007 by a former sports car journalist called Rael, who founded a religion called the Raelian Movement after he said he was visited by a space alien in a French volcano park who told him life on Earth was created by extraterrestrial scientists, according to an account on his website. [See, there's science behind it too!]

Occasional references to alien creators did not seem to register with the crowd, which focused mostly on the breasts.

"I'll show these to a few friends and then delete them after a few days," Rudy Sison, a New Yorker who happened to visit the park on Sunday, said as he thumbed through photographs and video he had just taken on his phone. "They're topless."

Several women waved signs saying: "Equal Topless Rights For All."

After the speeches, a guitarist led the crowd in a reworking of The Beatles' song "Let It Be."

"Let 'em breathe," people sang. "Let 'em breathe."

It is evident that people who are willing to make someone's life completely fall apart, to deprive him from seeing his children, and to incarcerate him for most of a decade, all just to avoid seeing a penis, are suffering from a serious mental disorder.

During all the time that those people have imprisoned him, just to avoid seeing a penis, has any serious effort been made to evaluate, diagnose, and possibly treat whatever is causing this phallophobic obsession?

It's possible that they suffer from a narcissistic paranoid personality disorder. That would require long-term treatment in a residential setting and would require them to be committed to change. There may be ways in which they could be treated with anti-psychotic medications, but that would require their cooperation, and even the most powerful medications might be of limited use in cases of such an ingrained dysfunction.
Reason is valuable only when it performs against the wordless physical background of the universe.

Naked Rambler Stephen Gough - who has spent years in solitary confinement in a Scottish jail - was branded arrogant and self-indulgent by a sheriff after refusing to get dressed and go home to England.

Gough, from Hampshire, was brought into a draughty courtroom naked but for a pair of handcuffs today to be quizzed on why he had refused social work and psychiatric help.

The ex-marine was jailed for five months at Kirkcaldy Sheriff's Court, Fife, for committing a breach of the peace.

He was found guilty of the offence last month after strolling naked near a swing park where children were playing in Dunfermline, also in Fife, and refusing to put on clothes.

Sentence had been deferred for social workers to assess whether he needed psychiatric intervention.

His arrest in July came just three days after he had been freed from prison in Perth, 30 miles to the north, after spending six years in solitary for previous offences involving nakedness.

Gough, 53, who insists he is not a naturist and claims his naked rambles are 'a protest,' was initially removed from the dock after only five minutes when he refused to sit down so his privates were hidden by the wooden dock.

He said: 'I just want to be treated like anybody else.'
You are, you thick twat.
