I tried...but he closes before I get home from work. He's not open Sunday. He is only open a few hours Saturday. And he charges about twice as much for everything. Nope, no more.

It sounds like a variation of "Shoppers buy food for a woman who was embarrassed over using a welfare card at a grocery store" - a fictional moral story piece of fluff. Why are people here acting as if it doesn't matter whether the story is true or not? Of course it matters!

My son has done his two tours in Afghanistan and probably wouldn't shop at Walmart. But in whatever store, there is no way he would be stupid enough to pile almost twice as much merchandise into his cart as he had money available (on a card or wherever). He would avoid appearing so brain-dead at almost any cost.

As to what kind of morons shop at Walmart just to "save a dollar or two", I guess that would be service men and women - are you sure at least one of us doesn't work check-out counters at Walmart?

Please, everyone here stay out of Wal-Mart...that will make it a bit less crowded for me.

By all means, Jarl.

None of us here would want to impeade your sending money and jobs overseas to Red China by patronizing MalWart. :nana

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

No, actually...NOTHING I bought there today was from China. In fact, they recently started stocking Purolator oil filters in place of their old Super Tech house brand...all US-made.

So is the ammo.

I would surmise that 99.9% of the goods they stock are made in the PRC.

My local shop keep opens from 7:30 am and trades til 8:00 pm every day.

He is open seven days a week except Christmas and Good Friday where he is only open for 1/2 a day.

In some aspects he is more expensive, in others he is cheaper. I support him as he is my local and he lives in the area as well. If you don't support your local, the choice will be taken from you. Though I do understand the difficulties that you outlined.

One thing about shopping at "Uncle Nick's" is that as he can only carry a small volume, though his range is good, it's often cheaper to shop there as we don't make random purchases. We go in, get what we need, and leave.

You may think that's self-evident Gen'l, but I've gone shopping with a lot of folks of the female persuasion over the years for whom that seems to be a completely alien concept....

Fearsome Frank would have to re-write a lyric or two:

"...
I'm a moron, 'n' this is my wife
She's frosting a cake
With a paper knife
All what we got here's
American Chinese made
It's a little bit cheesey,
But it's nicely displayed
Well we don't get excited when it
Crumbles 'n' breaks
... "

I would advise paying for your items first Meade...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
