I have described the series of events here accurately.

A tiny group of Christian and Jewish anti-muslim bigots has set a fire which will be difficult to put out and which will cause great harm even if it burns itself out and does not spread into a larger conflagration. One certain way to make it spread and multiply the casualties is to be manipulated into deepening and spreading anti-muslim bigotry on our side.

These events do not prove that Islam is bad they prove that there are hate-filled murderers on both sides who can manipulate the most ignorant and most stupid into joining them. We generally look at a case like this where the exercise of freedom of speech is morally wrong but not legally objectionable and then just give up. We say "well its freedom of speech there's nothing we can do about it". As if the fact that the State is not allowed to prevent it also prevents all other responses.

It does not and the Patron Saints of Liberalism, J.S. and Harriet Mill, said so in "On Liberty".

The group who made and distributed the movie are doing exactly the same thing as Osama Bin Laden, they are deliberately provoking a murderous attack. They are using a different means and hoping for a partially different end; both of them want an escalation of violence between the Muslim and Western worlds they just have different opinions of who will ultimately benefit from it.


The goal of both is to deepen the hatred and increase the killing.

Nakoula currently lives in Cerritos, California[7] in the Los Angeles area.[8] The residence is linked to Abanoub Basseley, his 21 year old son who paid the actors in Innocence of Muslims.[9]

According to Associated Press, "Prior to his bank fraud conviction, Nakoula struggled with a series of financial problems," including a $106,000 lien filed against him in 1997 and a $191,000 tax lien in 2006.[10] Nakoula owned a gas station, against which the California State Board of Equalization put a lien, stating that he owed taxes, interest and penalties dating from 1989 to 1992.[11]

The Daily Beast reported that Nakoula was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in 1997 after being pulled over in possession of ephedrine, hydroiodic acid, and $45,000 in cash.[11] He was charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.[8] He pleaded guilty and was sentenced in 1997 to one year in Los Angeles County Jail and three years probation. He declared bankruptcy in 2000.[12] According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney he violated probation in 2002, and was re-sentenced to another year in county jail.[13]

In 2010, Nakoula pleaded no contest to federal charges of bank fraud in California and was ordered to pay $794,701 in restitution. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Leigh Williams, Nakoula opened bank accounts using stolen identities and Social Security numbers, including one belonging to a 6-year-old child,[2] and deposited checks from those accounts to withdraw at ATMs.[14] He was also sentenced to 21 months in federal prison. LOS ANGELES—A Southern California filmmaker linked to an anti-Islamic movie inflaming protests across the Middle East was interviewed by federal probation officers at a Los Angeles sheriff's station but wasn't arrested or detained, authorities said early Saturday.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, was interviewed at the station in his hometown of Cerritos, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Don Walker said.

Federal officials have said they were investigating the activities of Mr. Nakoula, who has been convicted of financial crimes. If the probation department determines Nakoula violated terms of his release, a judge could send him back to prison.

Mr. Walker said Mr. Nakoula traveled voluntarily in a squad car with deputies. "He went to the Cerritos station to talk with probation officers. He's not under any arrest," Mr. Walker said.

The leader of the Shia Muslim militant group, Hezbollah, has called for fresh protests in Lebanon on Monday over a film deemed offensive to Muslims.

The world needed to know Muslims "would not be silent in the face of this insult", Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said.

Protests at many US diplomatic missions have been continuing over the film, which was made in the US.

One person was reportedly killed in clashes between protesters and police in Pakistan on Sunday.

In a speech broadcast on Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV station, Sheikh Nasrallah called for demonstrations on several days over the coming week.

The first is scheduled to take place on Monday afternoon in a southern suburb of Beirut which is a Hezbollah stronghold.

He said he had waited for the Pope to complete his three-day official visit to Lebanon before speaking out on the matter.

"Those who should be held accountable, punished, prosecuted and boycotted are those directly responsible for this film and those who stand behind them and those who support and protect them, primarily the United States of America," Sheikh Nasrallah said.

There have been protests over the film in Lebanon in recent days, but most have been reported from the northern city of Tripoli, which has a Sunni Muslim majority.
