Spring Forward ...

Post by The Hen »

Daylight Savings commences this weekend in Australia.

This is my friendly reminder to all Aussies on this Board to not forget to put their clocks forward one hour so we can really enjoy the lengthened balmy evenings. That is all Aussies apart from the Queenslanders, Sean, Sister Mary and Aardy. They are too worried about the extra hour fading the curtains, or summat...

Oh. That would be ALL the Aussies on the Board apart from me and Gob.

In that case ....

OI Gob, don't forget to help me put all the clocks forward an hour on Saturday night.

As for the rest of you?

As you were.

Where does Alice live, then?

Truth is, we get enough sun up here without grasping and grabbing for another hour at the end of the day Hen. ;) :nana
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Here in the states, when it's time to turn your clocks ahead (or back) remember to check you smoke alarm batteries. Some say to change the batteries at these times but I think that was thought up by the battery manufacturers to get you to buy more batteries. I usually go two+ years on my smoke alarm batteries. But do check them. The life you save may be your own.

It's wonderful to live in a place where we don't have to put the clocks forward in Spring (or back in the Fall). They are already somewhere back around 1995 according to the USA tv imports

By the way, Hen's just trying to make the northern hemisphere feel bad because it's Spring here and autumn where all the losers live ha ha hah...urg
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I will.

I didn't get to go snowmobiling last year as I was having my own personal problems. This year I am ready to roll.

I'm ready for the ski season as well; good riddance to the heat and humidity. And IMHO Autumn is the best season by far--a break from the heat leading into the serentiy of the winter.

Forget skiing (although I did ski a lot in my younger years. Now, my knees are not well enough to keep up), God invented engines for a reason. To propel idoits like me at great speeds across the snow. ;)

That, and the end of grass cutting season is at hand. I do like plowing snow more than cutting grass

That would be counter-intuitive, though possible.

not really especially when you consider Fall forward is alliterative and sprining back is a common reaction to being surprised.

Fall and back have the same number of letters, like port and left. Add that into the now complicated memory aid and Bob's your uncle.

Unless in your case he was your Aunt who liked wearing trousers.

well let's say you were in a seated position watching something so boring that it was putting you to sleep...(like say, a cricket match, or a video of a Leonard Cohen concert)

In that case, it would be natural to "fall forward", (as you began to fall asleep) and then"spring back" as you caught yourself falling asleep....

Well in that case everyone must be THRILLED that I exist to tell you which way to put your clocks.

I can see you would all struggle without me.

It's the story of my life you know.
