Indiana, west metro Indy area.
Thank you. Didn't realize that...I was in Indy last year. :)

I have driven by the track when in Speedway but have never had a desire to see a race. Hope you had fun and enjoyed Hoosier Hospitality while here.

No, I wasn't there for the Indy 500. A week AFTER the race last year, the Hot Rod Power Tour descended on Indianapolis. :) Long Haulers were able to take a parade lap on the Brickyard...I actually drove ON the track.

I went to the indy 500 way back in 1977. Sat on the inner first turn. Not much of a vantage point, saw cars coming, saw cars going. IIRC Mario Andretti crashed in the first turn (or maybe that was at Pocono). Pocono is a much better track in that the tri-oval is raised in the back of the track giving all those around the outside a view of almost the whole track.

Heady stuff if you are into it. This year my employer offered us tickets to his box at the track I told husband I would go it he really really wanted to. Thank God he declined. I may actually reach my goal of living my entire life in Indiana without ever going to the track.

Pocono is the tri-oval. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that.
Pocono also has the back portion raised a bit sothat one can see the whole track (or pretty much the whole track) from the grandstands. Of course things may have changed since I was last there (1978).

I have no real interest in the Indy 500...but as a lifelong car nut, it was quite a thrill to drive on the Brickyard!

Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there

I wish I had you to talk to

If a man ever needed dying, he did
No one had a right to say, what he said about you
And it's so cold and lonely here without you
Out there, the law is coming, I've been so tired of running

Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there
I wish I had you to talk to

It hurts to see the man that I've become
To know, I'll never see the morning sunshine on the land
I'll never see your smiling face or touch your hand
If just once more I could see, you, our home and our little baby

Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there
I wish I had you to talk to

I hope this letter finds its way to you
Forgive me love for the shame I've put you through and all the tears
Hang on love to the memories of those happy years
Red lights are flashing around me, good Lord, it looks like they found me

Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there

I wish I had you to talk to

Indiana wants me, Lord, I can't go back there

Ah that explains what totally blighted your ability to express good taste in music... :P

(and causes all your posts on music to be 100% wrong)

(unless you purposely post something like "Leonard Cohen is really great!" in response to this)
