I had a particularly dog in that fight. A very autistic brother. With extreme spastication. I have seen the complete disgust that brings to people. I have witnessed the discrimination and attitudes that were displayed in that thread. I am a supporter of the Autistic Foundation. Of course I was going to point out prejudices.

The key to understanding where BSG is coming from, (and the explanation for the complete disconnect between her actual words and attitude at the time re LoCa and the situation with Quad, and the imaginative fables she wove about them this week in the banning thread) is to understand that BSG's perception of reality proceeds entirely from her "I'm the center of the universe; everything revolves around me, and I can do no wrong" perspective...

In her mind, this place instantly went from "the successful place you two created" to a place populated by folks who, "thrive on toxicity" the day legions of posters didn't jump in to denounce me for a fight she had started. (a fight which was the culmination of several months of unprovoked sniping she had engaged in going back to May...at first I couldn't figure out why she all of a sudden decided to start picking fights with me....I now think it was probably because I decided to bury the hatchet with Andrew...I believe that really pissed her off...with BSG, everything is personal)

It never occured to her to stop to think that maybe the reason that didn't happen as she arrogantly demanded it should, had anything to do with her own behavior...

Nay nay...that couldn't be the reason....she is always the blameless, noble heroine, who despite being done wrong bravely perseveres....

If people aren't rushing in to defend her, it must be because they "thrive on toxicity" or because the other poster is "better liked" than she is, or because they "need targets" or because of some other moral or ethical failing on their part....

If Joe criticizes her, then he goes from dealing in a justified way with a guy who was claiming to misuse access to private government information, to being a person no different from one filing bogus complaints against another board member's employer with no justification whatsoever....If @W criticizes her, then of course, the problem must be that BSG "vastly over-estimated her".... and so on and so on...

The problem can never lie with her and her own behavior. No, not a bit of it. That is quite impossible. BSG never once stops to think, "you know, if more and more people are criticizing me, and they're not coming to my defense, maybe there's something about the way I'm acting that could be bringing this on."

The ability to conduct that sort of self-examination is simply not in her tool box....

Yes, Meade, after posting here for all but three months of the place's existence and supporting it financially, I shouldn't have the right to vote. Oh, unless I'd come back gunning for loCA. Then it would be fine and the question would not have been raised. I'd have been welcomed back with open arms & huzzahs if I'd but agreed with the right folks.

I'm not sure that's exactly the point I was making BSG. I prefer you to come back, vote whichever way you like and stay here. If anything, my post intended to query Daisy as to why the Embassy gatekeeper would allow an "I'm only here to vote" temporary return; she unerstood the laboured analogy and answered that by advising that she was not re-deactivating any poster. And here you are.

My own position is that there's an awful lot of spite on this board, intemperate language and petty name-calling (and that's just me ). Much of it is empty triumphalism - a kind of cyber bullying puffing of chests and rattling of testicles more suited to the playground than among adults.

Your question over the disparate handling of the Quad thing and the Loca thing has been asked and answered. A pity that it could not be done without the seemingly endless nyanyanya and abuse from both sides of the non-argument. I believe you are factually wrong in that comparison but understand it to a degree. But I see that the witch-hunt against BSG is just getting fired up.

Just for the record, (and seeing as you raised it BSG,) the reason I did not "have your back" in the dispute with Jim, is that you were totally responsible creating what happened there. You were in the wrong. That's how I choose whose back to have, I tend to support whoever was in the right in any conflict.

Personally, I think considering we were aware for, and had to endure, some months of knowing about this, we had been quite restrained (under the circumstances).

To say I was only a few seconds away from being combustible (at times) would be an understatement. To consider joining anyone else's fight, was inconceivable. Contrary to sarcasm posted, this was not a laughing matter, but a serious one.

Re-read my posts with the hindsight of my situation I think I was very restrained in my dealings with Lo. Surely in my situation, jumping into another's issue would probably NOT be a good idea for my sanity, or Gob's complaint.

As one of the people that BSG feels aggrieved about enough to withdraw her membership over my lack of public support, I must state that there were a number of reasons why I did not.

1. I was unaware of the past history between BSG and Lord Jim that had made her place him on ignore. This was the first time I was conscious of any major on-going issue between either of them. I do not step blindly into such a situation without the knowledge of how we arrived there in the first place. I still haven't bothered researching their past issues.

2. My issues with Lo had gone on for about a year or so. Most of the time I was on my own. Most of the advice was to ignore it. Hell, things have only just started to return to what one can loosely describe as a reasonable posting situation. Call me battle weary.

3. We are fast approaching a local election here. I am busier than the proverbial one legged man in the arse kicking competition.

4. I did not ask BSG to jump in to my situation. I do not believe I have ever requested anyone's intervention.

5. I get very emotional about killing sprees. I hate and despise the scum that commit them. I happened to agree with Lord Jim's thoughts on the matter as I couldn't see a reason for not killing himself? I still can't? Cowardice?

6. When I saw the deterioration in the thread, I didnt bother reading the posts.

I realize BSG's is going through one of life's many challenges, changing employment ... and everything else. Not only that but she has had to care for, and nurse to health, Little (Red) Bear. I should have offered my thoughts and support to her if not here, than in private.

For that, I apologise ... if she is reading.

Where you can see the pattern is almost exactly the same as in the latter thread; She attacks and insults me out of the blue with no provocation, I try to avoid getting into it with her, she keeps on with it till I finally get fed up, and then she plays the wounded victim...

Between those two threads, on numerous occasions she engaged in LoCa like behavior, following up numerous posts of mine with unprovoked, snarky, sneering, condescending, insults. The reason Hen, and many others, weren't aware of the problem was because for the most part I didn't respond to her crap, so it didn't result in a lot of back and forth.

I had long recognized that she had some psychological problems; but I believed that she was basically a good hearted and well meaning person, and I kept hoping that whatever it was that had gotten her to decide to keep coming at me would eventually resolve itself. For this reason, I granted a lot more patience to her, given the way she was behaving, than I have to some other folks. By the time she pulled the same crap yet again in the James Holmes thread, she had completely exhausted the considerable patience and forbearance I had extended to her.
