Bolloxed that up. Never made my own soda bread before, will try again tomorrow.

Well at least your record is intact.

I'm a sweet potato chip failure (among other kinds). First time was in the US in July when I forgot I'd put 'em in the oven. The black smoke, horrible aroma and fire alarms reminded me. Took days to get the fug out of there.

Last week I tried again here using the same recipe. Set timers and was very alert. Unfortunately forgot to convert 200F oven to 95C oven here in SA. (See above except we don't have fire alarms - we have bars on the windows so our screams wake the neighbour).

Tried again two days ago. 95C, timers, super alert. Turned 'em over after 50 mins. Gave 'em another 40. "They don't crisp up until cooled down". Right! Cooled 'em down. They are horrible, soggy sores - flappy and floppy and out on the lawn to join the previously disadvantage set from last week. Even the birds don't want 'em

Souffles next!

Some oil in a frying pan will make those sweet potato(e) fries crispy. That's the way I always cook 'em as with my regular potato(e) fries.

Hope you don't do that while you're frying potatos!

Sometimes lube is needed while cranking.

In view of his Emmanuelle thread, I guess we know why Gob's sodit bread came out soggy.
