You Are Being Insulted and You Don’t Even Know It

Of course I am only referring to Americans here, but others are invited to add their comments: In 1960 both Hawaii and Alaska had been admitted to the union. The flag of the United States held forty-eight stars each representing a state. In its present formation of the times the union of the flag could hold no more stars so the stars were offset so that two additional stars could be added. Now look at the flag and tell me how many stars could be added to it. It could hold perhaps twice as many, why is that?

The reason is that most of our flags now are made in China. The Chinese are placing smaller stars on our flag. Why are they doing this? As I see it there are two reason for this. One is that it is cheaper to use smaller stars and the other is that it is a veiled insult to the people of the of the United States. I personally believe that it is both. The communist leaders of china get a silent satisfaction out this subtle insult to United State and if is cheaper to produce smaller stars that is plus.

I realize that to some this is radical, but it is not the first time I have been willing go out on a limb. My personal philosophy is that insults are the weapons of a fool because it is a weapon that the target determines it’s power and effectiveness. How should we respond to this; no insults in return just don‘t buy flags made in China, especially those sold at Wal-Mart. Also if you make your own flag or have one custom made make the stars even larger.

I think that might be a little extreme. How about we just make us a couple of proper flags. However, on the other hand I think getting rid of our nukes is also a crazy idea. The day may come when we might need them.

Personally, I'm not insulted. I think this is just another case of "Don't attribute to conspiracy or malevolence something that can be explained adequately by ignorance or incompetence."

Though I've always wondered about the thought process of anyone who buys an American flag that was made anywhere other than the U.S.A. (Now that seems to me to be an insult to the U.S.....though I know it's really just ignorance. )


BTW, I'm old enough to remember when Alaska was near to becoming a state there was much speculation, discussion, and debate about how the arrangement of 48 (=6 X 8) stars could be changed to accommodate another star, for the first time in 47 years--a problem that must have occurred many times in the past:

Sue, so you really doubt that the ability of the Chinese communist party to have happen in china what ever they wish. If some high ranking member of the party wishes some dig at the United States all it would take is telephone call; it would not even have to be in writing.

Red China has recently adopted a system of some what rule of law, but the party still remains the ultimate law.

I would not be so sure that china is a friend of our nation. As their power grows so may their ambitions of greatness, possibly at the expense of our freedom.

As someone with more than a passing interest in this but little access to 'inside information', I was wondering if anyone could help verify the story I've been hearing in epidemiology circles that some, perhaps all, of the Palin family has been infected with hookworm. Without being morbid, a quick check of hookworm pathology would seem to strongly indicate the possibility of a cluster within the Palin family. (check Wikipedia for a good layman's description) Any confirmation or refutation of this story would be greatly appreciated.
