Love a good horror film

Post by Miles »

Last night I was treated to some of my favorite movies. Several Hammer productions from the 50's. Dracula, The Curse of Frankinstein, The Mummy and The Gorgon. I love the old films from the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. I remember being scared shitless as a child watching the Wolf Man!

While the special effects of that era were crude, in some aspects, compared to todays they are still classics. People like Lon Chaney and Ray Harrihousen were effective in thier craft in special effects.

I also enjoy the campy, B movies, from the 50's such as "Them". :ok
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.

When I was a kid I read The Dunwich Horror I still have nightmares about it.

The movie was terrible...
Sometimes it seems as though one has to cross the line just to figger out where it is

The original "Haunting of Hill House" was always my favorite. I remember every Saturday night there was "Chiller Theater" (with the 6 fingered hand coming up from the ooze) which showed the Mummy, Frankenstein, etc; 40's and 50's era movies. I used to love staying up late watching those flicks.
Yes, less gore but much more suspence.

Man me too!! I have it on DVD, also "The Legend of Hell House", another movie based (loosely) on the same book.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070294/

A team consisting of a physicist, his wife, a young female psychic and the only survivor of the previous visit are sent to the notorious Hell House to prove/disprove survival after death..
My all time favourite;

I stumbled across a really good parody of those cheesy fifties and early sixties sci-fi flicks on one of the HBO channels a couple of weeks ago....

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra

(I should have posted about this one in the movies you may have missed thread)

It was made in 2001, but it really captured, the look, feel, and bad acting and dialogue of those B movies to a tee...the film makers and the actors really nailed it...

If you didn't know you were watching a parody, it would probably take you a good while to realize it....(which to me is the hallmark of good satire)

Hey I've been pimping that movie for years. Mind you there's a sequel as well:

Not quite as well as the original but still quite good especially on repeated viewings.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I should mention that everyone (or their brother) is back from the original movie. Including Jungle Brad!
