As I've said, I have in fact tried marmite....

I wouldn't even feed it to a Santa Cruz Pseudo-scientist..... 8-)

Speaking of marmite, I never received my order that I made quite a long time ago from wherever the heck I ordered it. I wanted to try it before commenting on it.

I guess I'll try again.

Off I go... in search of marmite...

Joe, you might try ordering it directly from the manufacturer:

Hmmm definitely ditch the marmites, toss in some bacon bits and bleu cheese. Yum.

First batch are resting after coming out of the oven, I'll be having one (or six, ) for tea tonight.

(I will confess I didn't stick perfectly to the recipe.)

Went with the lamb and feta, did you?

I knew that would just prove too tempting...

Actually Jim, the only change I made was using Gouda, not cheddar, cheese, and adding some vegetarian "bacon".
I thought you'd approve of that! :D

Yum. I get locally made raw milk Gouda at my farmers market (last market until May was yesterday, sadly), and it's wonderful!

All the best cheeses are made with raw milk, it's the best way of getting the true flavour.

Remember you told us about your (fantasy) trip to France?* How it's impossible to get a bad meal there? (Ha!)
France

Raw milk and especially raw milk cheeses are considered the standard for high quality dairy products. Many French cuisine traditionalists consider pasteurized cheeses almost a sacrilege. Many traditional French cheeses have solely been made from raw milk for hundreds of years
It's one of the bummers of living in Aus that you cannot get raw milk cheeses. I've been considering making my own.

*Still waiting to see your photos BTW.

Small farms, small farmers, cheese made fresh --- I've not heard of anyone getting listeria from that (and yes, I'm sure some instances could be found on the internets). Not to mention making cheese requires heating (albeit not pasteurizing) the milk.

One of my best friends is married to a dairy farmer. The only milk in the house is raw, and she has three healthy stapping boys.

Any steaks from that farm?

Couldn't go hunting this year as I just joined this company in June and my cousin who owns the hunting camp in Maine (160 acres) just underwent his first sessions of chemo for bladder cancer.
Been seeing many deer here on LI and just may have to take an "illegal" with my crossbow (also illegal).
