Just frickin great.

Post by Sue U »

Last year, Hurricane Irene flooded my basement, nearly drowned our chickens and left parts of the immediate area without power for five days.

This year, apparently, we're getting Sandy, which they're now saying may be even bigger and more destructive. Right on Halloween.

Sandy, not really an apt name, unless it brings the beach with it...

Be safe Sue.

I know what you have been through and I hope you don't have to do it again.
Not many things worse than watching the water rise.

At least your getting some warning

Put some high roosts in for the chooks and good luck.

From the projected track, it looks like it's going to pretty much drive Rehoboth Beach, Delware, right across the bay into southern New Jersey.

Oh and thanks, Ardy-Roo. I don't expect it to be anywhere near as bad as what you had, though, thank goodness.

Today I am thankful that I never bought a shore house. The supermarkets are insane today, bottled water is selling like mad. And the storm is still two days away. (I'm going shopping tomorrow -- rack of lamb goes on sale for 9.99/lb! If we lose electric power, there's always the charcoal grill.

That is a good price for rack of lamb.

Wishing you safety and as much good cheer as you can muster.

Just came home from VT (early) to prepare for the storm -- high tides, high winds, and high seas = moderate coastal flooding expected here on the beach. Sustained winds 40-50, gusts 60-90 (eek). Coastal areas under watches and the emergency calls system ringing regularly. My glass gets boarded up first thing tomorrow. I've just about got all of the outside living items inside. Tomorrow after the boards are done, its fill the car with gas, get cash, bread, and peanut butter. If I could find rack of lamb for $9.99 I'd buy that too -- although my grill has to get packed with the other outside items on my deck and that means its not accessible for a while.

It shouldn't be as bad as Delaware and NJ may get -- I hope its not bad for anyone. Be safe everyone!

Lit a candle for you and hope it brings you a little good fortune.
It will burn for 48 hours so the worst might be over before it goes out

I'm all boarded up and fueled up, and everything is tucked away. I've got candles, batteries, flashlights, a pot of soup on the stove, and plenty of wine, hard cider, and tequila. I'm as ready as I can be.

Be safe everyone!

I understand that the Hurricane is going to be magnified by another storm system, (this one coming from the west) that is supposed to be packing a lot of snow....

It's also supposed to be extremely slow moving, which will result in a lot of flooding....
