I am sick of these sanctimonious, holier-than-thou, male politicians who think they have their finger on the pulse of the female anatomy. This type of misogynistic fundamentalism has the power to kill the body and the soul in equal measure. Assholes, all.

The thought that this moron considered his idiotic musings worth putting into print is only slightly more astounding than that some publisher went ahead with it.

I wonder if he was given any pause by his own citing of the fact that by a ratio of 5-1, women impregnated by rape elect to keep the child.

One would hope that this disgusting excuse for a human would refrain from reproducing. If this essay is any indication I am hopeful.

I may have missed something here but the article which states this 5:1 ratio links to the data. But the data says this:

The national rape-related pregnancy rate is 5.0% per rape among victims of reproductive age (aged 12 to 45); among adult women an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year. Among 34 cases of rape-related pregnancy, the majority occurred among adolescents and resulted from assault by a known, often related perpetrator. Only 11.7% of these victims received immediate medical attention after the assault, and 47.1% received no medical attention related to the rape. A total 32.4% of these victims did not discover they were pregnant until they had already entered the second trimester; 32.2% opted to keep the infant whereas 50% underwent abortion and 5.9% placed the infant for adoption; an additional 11.8% had spontaneous abortion

Despite a certain ambiguity as to the identity of "these victims", the clear indication is that only 32.2% elected (?) to keep the child. AFAIK 32:68 is very far short of 5:1

If "these victims" refers to the 34 cases, which resulted from assault by KNOWN perpetrators, then the mere fact of that knowing may unduly influence a decision to keep the child rather than adopt/abort. I would imagine (perhaps wrongly) that it may be a different result when the assault is by a total stranger. This is not to distinguish one kind of rape from another - both are equally despicable - but is it possible that a pregnancy resulting from rape by a boy-friend (for example) might be somewhat less unbearable (not to make a pun), especially for an adolescent girl?
