Jesus fuck, you're a goddamn moron.
Now that's not fair...

If he genuinely applied himself, with all his might and main, summoning up every bit of his mental acuity to focus on the task...

after 20 years, he might...

might...

Achieve the rarefied level of "goddamn moron"....

But he's nowhere near that yet....

In the meantime, that characterization stands as an insult to the abilities of goddamn morons everywhere...

From some Salt Lake paper [quote]:

The federal government pays for much of the beach protection programs. Including state and local contributions, shore protection programs with federal involvement from Manasquan to Cape May have cost taxpayers $475 million since 1988. The state has a $25 million-per-year beach protection fund, much of which goes toward the federal projects, but some goes to other measures.

Peter Kasabach, executive director of the planning advocacy group New Jersey Future, says subsidies that encourage rebuilding as things were, including federal flood insurance, are problematic.

"We’ve built in places that we shouldn’t have built and now those places are becoming even more hazardous and more expensive to stay in," he said. "As we grow and develop, we should make sure we don’t continue to invest in those places."

The hysterically funny part here of course, is that as usual, rube continues to completely miss the joke....

ETA:

Okay, I'm in a particularly charitable mood, so I'm going to take pity on him and explain it for him:

Rube, Sean's comment was a jocular reference to the discussion we had some months ago where the rather novel idea was advanced that the other nations in the world should be paying tribute to us for our using our navy to police the sea lanes, or face having all their shipping, (including unarmed commercial and passenger ships) sunk without warning....

There's no way you could possibly have missed that discussion, but of course we all know that when it comes to the retention of information or catching references that are made...

Well, let's just say your nickname isn't "Swifty".....

I don't believe that to be accurate. The inability to demonstrate the falsity of a statement issued by a moron does not make the issuer any less moronic. Even a moron can make a true statement.

See how that works?

Okay rube, I assume from that exchange, that if it can be shown that this statement, " Ever since the revolutionary war our navy has dominated every sea it has sailed in. The UK navy have been a dim 2nd or 4th to us ever since." is untrue, that you are then prepared to concede that you are a goddamn moron...

Well, let's get to it then:
Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries the Royal Navy was the largest in the world, but until 1805 its forces were repeatedly matched or exceeded in numbers by a combination of enemies.[25] Despite this it was able to maintain an almost uninterrupted ascendancy over its rivals through superiority in financing, tactics, training, organisation, social cohesion, hygiene, dockyard facilities, logistical support and, from the middle of the 18th century, warship design and construction.[26]....

The French Revolutionary Wars (1793–1801) and Napoleonic Wars (1803–1814 and 1815) saw the Royal Navy reach a peak of efficiency, dominating the navies of all Britain's adversaries, which spent most of the war blockaded in port. The Navy achieved an emphatic early victory at the Glorious First of June (1794), and gained a number of smaller victories while supporting abortive Royalist efforts to regain control of France. In the course of one such operation the majority of the French Mediterranean fleet was captured or destroyed during a short-lived occupation of Toulon in 1793.[36]...

Between 1815 and 1914 the Navy saw little serious action, owing to the absence of any opponent strong enough to challenge its dominance. During this period, naval warfare underwent a comprehensive transformation, brought about by steam propulsion, metal ship construction, and explosive munitions. Despite having to completely replace its war fleet, the Navy managed to maintain its overwhelming advantage over all potential rivals.

Due to British leadership in the Industrial Revolution, the country enjoyed unparalleled shipbuilding capacity and financial resources, which ensured that no rival could take advantage of these revolutionary changes to negate the British advantage in ship numbers. In 1889, Parliament passed the Naval Defence Act which formally adopted the 'two-power standard', which stipulated that the Royal Navy should maintain a number of battleships at least equal to the combined strength of the next two largest navies.
...

Following victory in the First World War the Royal Navy was significantly reduced in size,[2] although at the onset of the Second World War it was still the largest in the world. By the end of the Second World War the United States Navy had emerged as the world's largest...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Navy
It's a lengthy and detailed article rube, extensively footnoted....

So right then, let's hear you say it rube:

"I...Rubato...am...a...goddamn...moron"*

Perhaps the words of the old song need amending:
And it's all for me grog me jolly, jolly grog
All for my beer bum and tobacco
Well, I spent all me tin with the ladies middies drinkin' gin
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

Gee whiz, I see rube has been on the board and left, and hasn't responded to my answering his challenge to prove that this:
Ever since the revolutionary war our navy has dominated every sea it has sailed in. The UK navy have been a dim 2nd or 4th to us ever since.
Was pure, unadulterated, Grade A ignorant horseshit....

I'm sure it was just an oversight on his part....

I'll see if I can get his attention:

Rube!

Yo RUBE!

OVER HERE RUBE!

What is it he likes to say? Oh yeah:

ROTFLMFAO!!!!

Let me make sure I understand this...

Your cunning plan for getting out of this mess you've made for yourself is to remind everyone yet again of how you shat all over yourself proving that you couldn't read or understand a simple article? :loon

WOW......

Image

Oh well, as I said:

When it comes to sheer, naked ignorance, nothing you say could surprise me any more...*

*Of course I said that before, and then you showed that you couldn't properly interpret a one column table, or understand an article written in simple English, or find a link that was posted four times, so I may stand to be corrected on that claim again...

And now, I do once again, stand corrected...

I have to admit rube, that when I saw you had responded to this thread, I was expecting something truly and uniquely stupid, but I have to give you credit...

It never occurred to me that you would take the, "The way I'll get out of having made myself look like a complete idiot this time is to remind everybody of how badly I made myself look like a complete idiot on another occasion...yeah, that'll work", strategy....

I have to say, on the list of incredibly stupid things I imagined you might do or say, (and believe me, I imagined some pretty boneheaded possibilities) that one wasn't on my radar screen...

I have simply got to accept the fact that your natural ability to push the outer boundaries of human stupidity will always outstrip my ability to imagine the stupidest thing you could possibly come up with next....

On that score, you will always be at least several steps ahead of me....

It's a fascinating phenomena, when we experience people, and retard is not the first*, whose self esteem and self image are so fundamentally fragile and based on so little of value, that they find it totally impossible to be honest and put their hand up and say; "I was wrong."
