Of course not! I specifically limited my derision to the subset 'bitter old white male'.

Some of my friends here are, I'm pretty sure, white males. Many of my best friends in real life are also white males. Admittedly, many of my closest white male friends are, like me, progressive thinkers - but I have some IRL white male friends who are conservative - just had beers with a local one a few days ago. He teases me about politics and vice versa - he's conservative, but not hateful or bitter. He actually admitted to voting for Obama twice because the alternatives were so disappointing - but he's a ranch-raised religious conservative and generally we argue about most social and political positions, but we are both able to do so while keeping things friendly.

Meet Elise Stefanik, the Youngest Woman Ever Elected to Congress



Republican Elise Stefanik has become the youngest woman elected to Congress in history, winning her race against Aaron Woolf in New York's 21st open district 56-32, ABC News projects.

She's the first Republican to win the district, which had been held by Democratic Rep. Bill Owens since 1993.

Stefanik, 30, is seen as a new face and image for the GOP. House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy both campaigned for her on the trail, offering a preview of the attention she's sure to receive at the Capitol as she projects an aura of energy and vitality for a party hoping to appeal to younger demographics.

The formerly youngest elected Congresswoman was a fellow New Yorker: Democrat Elizabeth Holtzman was 31 when elected to Congress in 1973.

A Mormon mother of three secured her place in American history as the first black female Republican elected to Congress.

"Tonight you have made history!" Utah's Mia Love told supporters after winning the state's 4th House district. "Many of the naysayers out there said that Utah would never elect a black Republican LDS (Latter-day Saint) woman to Congress. Not only did we do it, we were the first to do it!"

Washington (CNN) -- South Carolina's Tim Scott on Tuesday became the first African-American senator to win election in the South since Reconstruction.

Scott, the Palmetto State Republican, was appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley to the office after former Sen. Jim DeMint resigned in November 2012. In this year's midterms, he outlasted Democratic challenger Joyce Dickerson.

The election was only to fill the last two years of DeMint's term. Scott will have to run again in 2016 in order to earn a full six-year term.

Scott's win also made him the first African-American in U.S. history to be elected to both the House and the Senate.

I think we have a very good chance of winning back the White House in 2016, if we nominate the right kind of candidate.

I think the numbers show that Hillary is going to be a lot more vulnerable than many in the Democratic base believe. (Her popularity numbers have been falling since she left State, and they take a big dive every time she spends any amount of sustained time in the public eye, as she did recently on her book tour.) I can think of at least four likely candidates for the GOP nomination who could beat her if they could get nominated and run a decent campaign.

Since all four are current or former Governors, the impact on them of anything that happens between Obama and the Congress the next two years will be minimal. One in particular that you're going to be hearing a lot more about is Ohio Governor John Kasich. Kasich is a very bright guy, also a former Congressman, and he was just re-elected by 17 points in the must win state of Ohio. Even more interesting about Kasich, he actually got 26% of the African American vote, an almost unheard of percentage for a Republican in a statewide race. (By contrast, Congressional Republican candidates got just 11% in the midterms)

Of course if we nominate Ted Cruz or even worse, Rand Paul, we can forget it. (Yes, "worse than Ted Cruz" is a very high bar, but with his Bernie Sanders-like views on Defense and Security, Paul manages to pull it off.)
