Re: dr ben carson...
there is the old smear campaign! you should have stuck around and listened to the call in portion.....
but it seems you don t need real info to make a decision. just tune in to a few comedians and get the real story.....

Re: dr ben carson...
out of about 15 calls there were only about three negative ones and two of them were obviously rehearsed.
black white , rep., dem, and independents all seem to like what carson really stands for. i really hope he runs.
remember, so i won t have to say i told you so.....

Re: dr ben carson...
I paused the video after Ben responded to the 3rd call. I might unpause it later. And don't worry, wesw. I haven't made a decision on who I'm going to vote for in the 2016 presidential election yet.wesw wrote:there is the old smear campaign! you should have stuck around and listened to the call in portion.....

btw - that interviewer's head looks like a light bulb.

good man joe.
Re: dr ben carson...
I have nothing against Carson, although his positions on healthcare, abortion, and immigration, to name a few, do concern me; but it has nothing to do with who his ancestors were. A man is more than the color of his skin or the result of his ancestry.his mother was white, there is one difference. OK, BUT HIW NUCH IF A DIFFERENCE DOES THAT MAKE? UNDER THE ANT-MISCEGENTATION LAWS STILL IN EFFECT IN MANY STATES WHEN HE WAS BORN IN 1961, HE WAS STILL BLACK.
carson s ancestors were slaves, there s another. SO WERE SHARPTON'S; WHAT DOES THAT QUALIFY A MAN FOR?
carson grew up and spent his formative years in America, there s another difference FOR THE MOST PART SO DID OBAMA; HE LIVED OUTSIDE THE US FOR A FEW YEARS, BUT MOST OF HIS FORMATIVE YEARS WERE SPENT IN THE us WHERE HE ATTENDED SCHOOL AND WENT TO COLLEGE
carson doesn t hang around with racists like Sharpton, there s a difference HOW DO YOU KNOW WHO CARSON HANGS AROUND WITH? AND SINCE YOU SEEM TO THINK BEING THE DESCENDANTS OF SLAVES IS SOME SORT OF QUALIFIER FOR SOMETHING IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY, WOULDN'T YOU THINK MANY OF THOSE WHO AGREE WITH SHARPTON WOULD ALSO BE THE DESCENDANTS OF SLAVES.

Re: dr ben carson...
Wes, it may have come to your attention that I am not a poster here who is generally given to coming to rube's defense, (and Lord knows I get absolutely disgusted with the penchant of some liberals to smear any African American conservative as an "Uncle Tom"... as though black people have some sort of obligation to think in lockstep with liberal dogma...that moron Harry Belafonte once even called Colin Powell an "Uncle Tom"....)except the part about rube and others saying in a left handed way that carson is an uncle tom.
And I'm certainly not going to say that I think rube is incapable of sinking to that level, nor would I be particularly surprised if he did...
But all of that having been said, I think that based on what he's said in this thread, the accusation is unwarranted...
I assume you're referring to some of the things he said at the beginning of the thread:
A lying right-wing toady.
The reason I'm pretty confident that rube wasn't intending that as code for calling Carson an "Uncle Tom" is because over the years I have on numerous occasions seen him use pretty much the same coarse and vulgar characterizations referring to white people...He'll say any dumbass thing to suck ass to the right-wing power structure. A tapeworm of a man.
(In fact he's used that sort of verbiage a few times talking about me...)

Re: dr ben carson...
actually i was referring to comments he made in another thread, but i take your point.
Re: dr ben carson...
anyway, i reviewed rubes posts and i stand by "lefted handed way of calling him an uncle tom"
if it matters, i don t believe anyone else here who objected to him did anything of the sort.
i do think some false impressions of him have been accepted tho.

Re: dr ben carson...
And we're back to the "make shit up and pretend other people have said it" technique you displayed early on and with depressing regularity since.
Pure garbage.

if i do it with depressing regularity wouldn t i just be continuing it, not getting back to it?

wesw wrote:why don t you break down where i said Obama wasn t black? i don t recall that.... and why can t Obama be white?
Obama identifies as black, which you clearly understand. You admit you intended to insult, but won't/can't explain why you tossed out that insult? Or is it that you're now backing off your statement?
You started this thread wes, by making a point about Obama's lack of blackness. Where do you get to decide whether someone is truly a black man or not?

tongue in cheek. i tire of repeating myself, and of Obama.

Re: dr ben carson...
i will mention barack Hussein Obama one more time. (the Hussein was just to annoy you)
i heard one of his supporters on NPR this morning.
they were boasting that there were 10 million more americans with health insurance now.
weren t there 40 million un insured before Obama care? i m all for single payer universal health care. this isn t it. this is the insurance company support system. most of our reps, from both parties, do what is best for the ins. cos. obamacare does the same. his plan leaves around 30 million now un insured. i m sure some way can be found to blame the people tho. corruption is what it is. ref. "New Book" thread. luckily our system is built for internal change . we can change it all with enough votes. ben carson embodies that.
if he turns out to be an insurance company shill, like Obama, i ll drop him like a hot potatoe.

Re: dr ben carson...
A good number of those (more than half?) already had a plan that they liked but had that plan cancelled thanks to obamacare.they were boasting that there were 10 million more americans with health insurance now.

As for the President's middle name, why would it annoy me? It's his name. My name is Greek, but I'm not. BFD.

Re: dr ben carson...
wes--
FWIW, I'm no big fan of obamacare, but it is far better for many that what they had before (which was nothing). Even covering my kids to 26 under my current plan is a real I have seen (sure some states included this mandate before last year, but until the AHA came about none did).
Nor are the HSAs that Carson is touting; you could save up your entire life and never have enough to pay for even a simple bypass.i m all for single payer universal health care.
any link to that oldr? I don't know one person who had their coverage canceled; while I don't doubt there are some, I don't think it's a "good number".A good number of those (more than half?) already had a plan that they liked but had that plan cancelled thanks to obamacare.

Re: dr ben carson...
Agreed -- but you know, keep talking shit (about the cancelled plans) and it sticks. The reason some of those plans disappeared was because they didn't provide a minimum standard of care.
The ACA isn't perfect, but it sure is better than the nothing we had before.

well, i concede the point guin. i should t not have said that. even tho tongue in cheek comments can (italics) be construed as insulting at times.
RR, i m not familiar with his views yet, and not sure that i d believe everything that is written anyway. i ll check it out.

Re: dr ben carson...
If single-payer healthcare is your issue, Ben Carson opposes single-payer.
As for people who "had th[eir] plan cancelled thanks to obamacare," the Affordable Care Act didn't cancel anyone's health plan. Certain employers did, because they found it a convenient smokescreen to cut employee compensation while blaming "the government" and shifting the costs to the taxpayer.
