Well, now everything is set...
All the presents are wrapped and under the tree...(Except of course for the Santa presents...they don't get wrapped, they just "appear" Christmas morning...like the stocking stuffers...Jimmy's getting the bike he's wanted, but I'm not assembling it...I'm not good at that sort of thing...one of Kelly's cousins is bringing it over late tonight...)
My Rumakis are all rolled and ready to go...
We have this humble repast set up for tomorrow:
Starters: Shrimp Cocktails
Soup: Lobster Bisque
Main Course: Prime Rib, baked potato, stuffed mushrooms and asparagus
Dessert: Deep dish apple pie and French vanilla ice cream
In a few hours we're going to shlep over Kelly's cousins' house in Antioch, and "do" Christmas Eve....
Christmas Eve was never a "thing" in my family (the "day" is the thing), but it's a tradition in her family...
So we grown-ups get together and party a bit, and the little kiddles all get to open one present...or two...
And then we're coming home...
And then we'll watch the original
Miracle On 34th Street, and then everyone goes to bed...
And I leave Cognac and biscotti for Santa...
(and celery and carrots for the reindeer...when did feeding
the reindeer become a part of this tradition? It wasn't a part of my growing up, but it was important to Tati when she was a tiny tot.....where'd
that come from..

)
And Jimmy says to me, (as Tati did at her age) "Santa is supposed to get milk and cookies"
My response:
"Santa gets a lot of milk and cookies...but it's
cold flying around up there....
When he comes to
our house, he's going to warm up, and he's going to leave extra presents...
