Chow mein? Does it still come in the two cans taped together? It's been years since I've seen it on a menu.
Huh? It's available in every Chinese restaurant I've ever eaten in, or ordered take-out from...(I prefer it to rice)...
I'd be
astonished to find a Chinese restaurant around here that didn't have it on the menu...
You can also by it dry in the Asian section of the super market...
(I remember that gross LaChoy stuff in the cans when I was a kid...my mother made it once and never again...)
I just did a quick search for a couple of the local Chinese restaurants we go to/order from; here are their menu pages:
http://www.emmyschinesesf.com/menu/
http://chefmingsf.com/menu.htm
They both have seven different varieties of Chow Mein...(6-10 different varieties in Chinese restaurants is pretty typical around here...a couple I don't see on those two menus that are popular are Mongolian Beef Chow Mein, and Tomato Beef Chow Mein...sometimes I'll get an order of plain Chow Mein to have instead of rice with Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Shrimp, etc)
