Didn't think you had the honesty to apologize and I was not surprised.
Repeating a racist generalization is different from recounting ones personal direct experience. It's an empiricism thing; you wouldn't understand.
One way to tell the difference is that I did not say "all Vietnamese ... ".
Hatred is just so much more fun than reason isn't it?

I'll take your word for it. You obviously know far more than I do about hatred.rubato wrote: Hatred is just so much more fun than reason isn't it?

"The Royal Danish Ballet gave some of the most enthralling performances I have had occasion to witness."Joe Guy wrote:Commending people by category, whether it be an entire race or a small group of people of one race, is not complimentary. It reeks of elitism and snobbery.
"The Chinese diving team were my favourite at the Olympic Games I attended in London."
I guess I'm just an elitist snob for thinking so.

Re: That smell of napalm
Absolutely invalid comparisons, Scooter. Saying that you enjoyed a performance by an orchestra or were impressed by the skills of a team is not even remotely the same.
It's a racist comment although rubato did not intend his remarks to be racist.
I've got nothing for which to apologize, rubato. I don't think you do either, FWIW.
Those are ascribing characteristics and character to people based on their race. Of course the implication is that "this is how Vietnamese are". Noted: these are complimentary words - not insults. But what the heck is the difference between saying that Vietnamese are good-humored and blacks have rhythm? None whatsoever.Tough, uncomplaining, hardworking, good-humored, courageous

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

ROTFLMFAO!!!Didn't think you had the honesty to apologize and I was not surprised.
Once again, rube channels his Inner Trump...
The guy who has lacked "the honesty" to issue a single apology for the innumerable times he has been caught making groundless accusations and mischaraterizations regarding other posters , the guy who holds the all-time record for such mischaracterizations on three boards over 20 years...
has the brass-balled hubris to think he is owed an apology...
That is too funny...

One further point to add here:
Why would one think "I would enjoy the social aspects of living there" unless they believed that those characteristics could be ascribed to the population in general? On the other hand I've been very impressed by my Vietnamese colleagues. Really amazing people*. I think I would enjoy the social aspects of living there.

This is no defense of rubato and it will probably seem odd coming from the liberal thug-hugger, but c'mon, this is political correctness gone nuts!
People of certain nationalities DO exhibit certain cultural traits, typically. OF COURSE the stereotypes don't hold true to all members of that cultural group, but in my experience, more often than not.
Vietnamese and Thai people are lovely, courteous, friendly and kind.
Canadians are much the same.
Americans are brash outspoken mannerless assholes.
You get my drift? No apologies.
