Sad Day At The Cinci Zoo...
Re: Sad Day At The Cinci Zoo...
Gorillas practice infanticide, so no, they do not "take better care of their precious offspring."

Re: Sad Day At The Cinci Zoo...
It's a terrible tragedy that this creature had to be shot...
But there really was no other choice...
Even if Harambe had no intention of hurting the child, a human child is far more fragile than a gorilla child of the same size...
He might not even wanted to have hurt the child, but just by pulling him around, that could have seriously hurt the kid...

Re: Sad Day At The Cinci Zoo...
Yeah, me for one...Body harness with leashes. Of course someone would have something to say about that too.
I would never have my child on a leash like a dog...
The one thing I've had was a bracelet from my wrist to their wrist...

Of course they do - but at a rate as high as Homo sapiens?Guinevere wrote:Gorillas practice infanticide, so no, they do not "take better care of their precious offspring."
Bad gorilla. Poor innocent mother ignoring child threatening to go exactly where he went when she wasn't bothering to supervise. Mother of the year!

Yes, you can get that *exactly* from where I said "bad decisionmaking all around."

Yes quite..."bad decision making all around."
No argument there...

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I wonder how long it will be before a GLM movement is started....?
Re: Sad Day At The Cinci Zoo...
One of the things that had me shaking my head about this story, is how the news reports have said that the kid "jokingly" told his mother that he was going to climb into the gorilla enclosure...
In my experience, three year olds tend to be literalists; they don't "joke" much about what crazy things they intend to do...they are telling you precisely what their course of action is going to be...
For example, when a three year old tells you he wants to see how Santa gets into the house, the next thing you can expect him to do is try to climb into the fireplace....(that one I can tell you from personal experience)
If a three year old tells you that they think they can fly, that may sound like a joke to an adult, but it is a sincerely held belief to a three year old...
You don't just say "no you can't"....
You keep a close eye on them, and you make sure they don't go near an open window...
Three year olds are natural fantastical thinkers with no sense of danger or potential consequences...
Much like Trump supporters...

To most people, comparing Kanya to a singer is much worse.

I'm not looking for a pissing match with you or anybody Guin, I simply had my own thoughts to express on the subject.
And, I don't entirely agree with your assessment. The zoo officials made the only decision they could once the idiot mother let her brat get into the enclosure. It's tragic for them and I feel a great deal of sympathy for the keepers who were forced to destroy an animal for which they doubtless had great affection.
