When you think Trump has gone as low as humanly possible

Post by Bicycle Bill »

Kelli Ward, a (Republican,of course) candidate in Arizona running for Jeff Flake's U.S. Senate seat, says "Hold my beer and watch this!!"
Kelli Ward, a U.S. Senate hopeful and onetime rival of Sen. John McCain, is facing a torrent of criticism after she appeared to suggest that his announcement Friday to halt medical treatment for his brain cancer was timed to hurt her campaign. McCain, 81, died a day after his announcement.

One of Ward’s staffers on Saturday wrote a Facebook post wondering whether the timing of the statement from McCain’s family, made on the same day that Ward’s statewide bus tour kicked off, was simply a coincidence or a tactic “to take media attention off her campaign.”

Ward did not dispute the notion and said in reply: “I think they wanted to have a particular narrative that they hope is negative to me."

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I bet she's also blaming the Democrats for coordinating with McCain the perfect time for his demise. On his headstone it will read "Fuck You, Kelli, Gotcha' Again"

Yeah, Ward is all class...

She ran a really nasty primary challenge against McCain in 2016, (which after showing some strength in early polling she lost badly) and then right after he announced his cancer diagnosis she called on him to resign so that she could be appointed to his seat...

Ward is a right-wing crackpot gadfly (She once said she was "open to" a conspiracy theory about airplanes spreading mind control chemicals, earning her the nickname "Chemtrail Kelli"); sort of Arizona's version of Nevada nutbar Sharron Angle...

The one she really should be pissed at isn't McCain it's Joe Arpaio...

One-on-one she was leading the far stronger general election candidate, Congresswoman Martha McSally; a mainstream conservative with a very appealing back story, similar to that of Kentucky Democratic Congressional candidate Amy McGrath:
Martha Elizabeth McSally (born March 22, 1966) is an American combat veteran and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Arizona's 2nd congressional district, elected in 2014. A Republican and retired military officer, she served in the United States Air Force from 1988 to 2010, rising to the rank of colonel. One of the highest ranking female pilots in the history of the Air Force, McSally was the first American woman to fly in combat following the 1991 lifting of the prohibition on female combat pilots.

She flew the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II 'Warthog' close air support aircraft over Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Southern Watch.[1] She was also the first female commander of a USAF fighter squadron, the 354th Fighter Squadron (354 FS) based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. In 2001, she successfully sued the United States Department of Defense in McSally v. Rumsfeld, challenging the military policy that required United States and United Kingdom servicewomen stationed in Saudi Arabia to wear the body-covering abaya when traveling off base in the country.

But since Arpaio entered the race he's been splitting the whackadoodle GOP primary vote with Ward, and McSally has been leading in the polls ever since. The most recent poll has her now opening up a 20 point lead:

The Dems should also be pissed with Arpaio; the latest general election poll (which is now about a month old) has the Dem candidate Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema leading McSally, but only by 4 points. She has a much bigger lead over Ward and Arpaio:
In this poll, OH Predictive Insights found Sinema leading Arpaio by a huge margin at 54-36 percent (+18). Sinema also has a double-digit lead against Ward; 51-41 percent (+10). Against McSally, Sinema leads 48-44 percent, an improvement for McSally from 48-42 percent in June, but still behind for a red state.

Back when it appeared Ward would win the nomination, this looked like the easiest pick up of the four GOP Senate seats the Dems have a shot at. But McSally is a candidate who is tailor-made for a general election race in Arizona, and after she has what has been a particularly ugly primary race behind her she probably won't get anything but stronger. It will likely take a really big blue wave for her to be defeated.

If I lived in Arizona, McSally would certainly have my vote...

And now the flag over the White House (once known as the people's house) has been run up to the top of the staff again. Snailgate

Oh...My...God...

Ward apparently thought this would be a good time to make a "cancer joke"... :loon

(As if there's ever a good time for a "cancer joke")...
Political Correctness Like ‘Cancer,’ Kelli Ward Says After McCain’s Death

Arizona Senate candidate Kelli Ward appeared to taunt Sen. John McCain in a tweet just two days after the longtime senator died of glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.

“Political correctness is like a cancer!” Ward, a former state senator who is locked in Arizona’s heated GOP primary to replace retiring Sen. Jeff Flake, tweeted Monday.

The Arizona Senate primary is Tuesday.
Dr. Kelli Ward

@kelliwardaz

Political correctness is like a cancer!
8:16 AM - Aug 27, 2018
Asked to respond to criticism that suggested Ward's tweet was taunting McCain's affliction, her campaign's press secretary, Zachery Henry, doubled down.

"Dr. Ward feels strongly that political correctness is used as a tool by the Establishment and the media to silence conservatives," he said in a statement. "Silencing opposing voices eventually kills those voices and their messages. So yes, political correctness is like a cancer."   [Obviously a graduate of the Sarah Huckabee Sanders School Of Press Secretarying]

Ward unsuccessfully challenged McCain in 2016, losing by 13 points, but capturing 39 percent of the vote.

I see some people are now referring to her as 'Mental' Ward.
