Cornona Corvid Protests....
Re: Cornona Corvid Protests....
To be fair, his choice not to wear a mask had very little, if any, effect on his contracting the disease, but it may well have influenced his infecting others (since that is what wearing a mask protects against). However, his choice to go to a crowded party may well have been the cause, and he had access to the same information as everyone of us--why he chose to take Trump's position as the correct one (if that's what he did) is beyond me. It's not a matter of intelligence or stupidity, it's paying any attention to an ass like Trump--face it, this isn't Goebbels or even someone who had even a rudimentary idea of how to influence people; Trump's just a windbag.
Now he's dead and while I won't cheer or dance on his grave, I am also not giving him a pass on people his selfish attitude which allowed him to infect others he came into contact with(even if they wore masks).

BigRR with respect, I think you very much underestimate Trump. He’s not just a windbag. This is a guy who understands spin better than many politicians, a guy who used to keep a copy of Hitler’s speeches on his night table and was one of the few books his first wife ever saw him read. I’m a bit surprised that after 4 years of the constant drumbeat of his propaganda you’re still excusing him as just a buffoon. The Republicans organized against him don’t consider him just a buffoon, but a very dangerous man set on destroying our country if he’s re-elected.

Well, here's the thing: he probably didn't die just because HE refused to wear a mask...more likely someone he knew, maybe a lot of someones, believed the propaganda and refused to cover up and spread the virus TO him.BoSoxGal wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 11:00 pmhttps://heavy.com/news/2020/07/richard- ... ronavirus/
This is a sad story, and it makes me sad that so many folks are going on his Facebook page and laughing at the story. He sounds like a really nice guy and friend, based on the posts of his friends. He was also a veteran who served 4 tours in the endless war on terror.
I blame the fucked up piece of shit in the White House who is promoting anti-mask, virus is harmless propaganda.
And then the follow-up question: how many other unsuspecting acquaintances and/or strangers did Mr. Rose infect before he got too sick to continue walking around, spreading the virus?

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Well BSG, for whatever reason, and I don't think it has anything to do with Trump's skill as a propagandist, he does have a following. Personally I don't think they are really following him, he is following them and playing to their idiocies and prejudices, basically telling them it's alright to be an asshole. do you honestly think he is calling the shots and that these people weren't racist assholes before him and won't be long after him? I honestly think that's exactly what he wants. The man is an entertainer giving the public what they want, and they'll continue cheering until they get tired and move on to the next person.BoSoxGal wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 2:49 amBigRR with respect, I think you very much underestimate Trump. Why don't most republicans take him on? Because of these fans. Face it, if they lose these votes by opposing Trump, it's not like they're going to get some of the democratic votes. The most important thing for them is to remain in office, not to achieve anything; that's all they care about. they're not eaactly chomping at the bit to get any of his programs passed, mainly because they're never sure what those programs or priorities are. Face it, he didn't end Obamacare with republican majorities in both houses, he did precious little to immigration except by way of executive orders (which were usually struct down), he got next to nothing for his precious wall in reality, he was a failure at foreign policy, and he even sucked at getting a budget through (yes, he did get some judicial appointments through, but that's about it--can you imagine how much damage he and is fans could have done if he knew how to be effective?). If these republicans thought he was the person you apparently think he is they would be beating the drum for him; instead, they treat him like the funny uncle--one everyone knows is a problem but won't say anything about because he's "family".
Whatever speeches he has read, Trump's no Hitler or even Mussolini; the man has no idea how to lead, only follow and please the crowd. And he's dragging the presidency down the same way. The only bright spot is we know how fickle crowds are--so did those other guys, but then they knew something Trump didn't, how to sway the crowd.
However, FWIW, I agree the last thing we need now is 4 more years of Trump. We need a president who, even if isn't much of a leader, is someone who knows how things get done in Washington and gets them done. Someone who can work with Congress, especially across the aisle, and someone who can get the public behind ("him" as both major party candidates are male). We have a lot that needs to be done, and Trump has shown he is not up to even that idea, let alone the task. Four more years of dithering and idiocy, especially with the challenges facing us, is something we cannot afford.

I just hope people are getting names to go along with the faces in these pictures, so when the time comes to round up the assholes we know which ones to go after first.

A conservative coronavirus-denier is urging others to take the virus seriously after 14 members of his family were infected and one died when he threw a party to celebrate the birth of a grandchild.
Tony Green, a 43-year-old from Dallas, and his partner, threw the party on June 13 for more than a dozen family members including father-in-law Rafael Ceja, his partner's grandmother and sisters.
Masks were not worn during the event, which was thrown to celebrate the birth of a grandchild, with Green explaining he believed coronavirus was a 'hoax.'
But within days of the gathering, 14 family members, including Green and the parents of the newborn baby, had fallen ill with coronavirus.
Their grandmother later died.
Green would not identify the 14 victims but said they included two of Ceja's sisters, one of his nephews and a brother-in-law.
His decision to go public about the outbreak in the family has caused a rift.
'You cannot imagine the guilt I feel, knowing that I hosted the gathering that led to so much suffering,' Green, a gay conservative wrote in a Dallas Voice op-ed where he urged others to take the virus seriously.
'You cannot imagine my guilt at having been a denier, carelessly shuffling through this pandemic, making fun of those wearing masks and social distancing. You cannot imagine my guilt at knowing that my actions convinced both our families it was safe when it wasn’t.'
Green said he voted for President Trump and was skeptical about COVID-19 until his family was affected.
'I admit I voted for Donald Trump in 2016. I admit traveling deep into the conspiracy trap over COVID-19,' Green wrote. 'All the defiant behavior of Trump’s more radical and rowdy cult followers, I participated in it. I was a hard-a** that stood up for my "God-given rights."'
'In great haste, I began prognosticating the alphabet soup about this "scamdemic." I believed the virus to be a hoax,' he added. 'I believed the mainstream media and the Democrats were using it to create panic, crash the economy and destroy Trump’s chances at re-election.'
The Trump supporter said he first became concerned after the party when he woke up feeling unwell, and by June 15, his partner and parents had all fallen sick as well.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Conservative is not synonymous with jerk; there are some intelligent conservatives (Lord Jim was one). And Trump supporter is not synonymous with conservative (although many fall within that part of the political spectrum), although for the most part it is synonymous with idiot (although some "support" Trump because his policies put money inn their pockets). A better headline would have been "A Trump supporting virus-denier...".
Re: Cornona Corvid Protests....
Trump supporter is DEFINITELY not synonymous with conservative.
Just a little video to illustrate the point, produced by and starring real conservatives.

Here’s an article that provides several horrible examples of covidiots who just do not give a fuck if they kill grandma, mom and dad, or whoever.

I certainly recall being somewhat selfish in my youth, but not this selfish - or stupid. Of course I’ve always been called too serious - and in some cases teased and denigrated - for my largely strict adherence to rules and consideration of the feelings and property of others.
Conversations of late in this place can’t help but make me wonder how some here would be behaving if they were in their youth in these times.
