Surgery for the holidays

Post by Crackpot »

a week from Monday I'm getting surgery done on my septum, My tonsils out and my Uvula re-sculpted so I'll likely be on a liquid diet for the holidays.

That's a bitch, I can empathize. Last Christmas Day I had surgery so my Christmas dinner was a bowl of oversalted broth and red and green (they were trying to make it festive, I guess) jello. Although I was on a regular diet much quicker than you will be, even though I couldn't sit down to eat for several weeks afterwards (owing to the location of the surgery :bw: )

I'm hoping I'll still be able to Eat some perogies for my x-mas eve dinner. Here's to hoping I'll be able to eat soft food by then.

I do that for every holiday.

Wow, were you a big snorer Crackpot?

What is the surgery to correct, if I can be so nosy.

I found Sustegen milkshakes to be a boon when I was on a prolonged liquid diet.
Bah!

Look at this way, CP....

It's a chance to stay in bed for a few days, and get waited on and fussed over with no one being able to expect you to do anything...

I don't envy your post-op discomfort, which will likely be significant.

Hang in there and enjoy lots of fruit smoothies - with lots of yogurt to repopulate your gut flora. I had a lot of gut issues post-op & that's my best advice. I also recommend a daily probiotic for at least a month. I had a very strong stomach my entire life until it was messed up by anesthesia and painkillers. Apparently this is a common post-op issue.

Best of luck; get well soon!
