So, starting from a base of 260 possible work days, (not including the 6 months paid sick leave):

Seven weeks vacation: 35 days

Public Holidays: 13 days

An extra day every two weeks: 26 days

Total: 74 days

So, of 260 possible work days, you get over 28% of them off with pay...(not including sick leave)

Your calculations are a bit out I think Jim, as you've added weekend days into the leave, but subtracted them from "workable days."

I assumed that even though with your schedule requiring you to work on weekends, that you would still be entitled to a regular accumulation of two days off out of every seven..(even if they didn't fall on the traditional weekend days, and even if they didn't always come in a row) and that those 104 days (that most everyone gets) would be separate from the other categories of days you mentioned.

Is that incorrect?

I have very comfortable working conditions.

I could complain that the nature of my job requires me to put in (on average, but that just means the additional hours provide me with an incredibly healthy Flex credit.

I could have taken all of my six weeks off simply in the credit I had built up.

Like Gob, my leave credits are incredibly healthy. The operation in March saw me have 5 weeks off work.

What is this thing called a "sick day"????? Or a "personal day"?????

(I vaguely remember some things called "paid vacations"....from way back in the days when I was an employee rather than an independent contractor....IIRC I got a total of 15 of those: 1 one-week, 8 two-week, 5 three-week, and 1 four-week....)

For me, that's the one (theoretically, potentially) good thing about not being paid for vacations: as long as I let the company know well in advance, I can (theoretically, potentially) take as much time off as I want without endangering my job--if I can afford to do it without any income. (Which I can't.)

Right now, thinking of taking in a friend of the roomie's who will 'Work for room and board' since he doesn't have a job after a long illness.

Also, he doesn't have a home, since he doesn't have a job.

I figure since we don't have a car, and he doesn't have a house; we can trade off the difference?

...just have to find out where he's parked these days, to tell him of the offer.
