Now Jarl, ol' buddy, think about that for a moment....

Do you seriously want to put to death every person who has ever driven with a BAC reading higher than .08, (which is the legal standard for "under the influence" in most states today)

We'll have to kill off more people than Joe Stalin....
Maybe "drunk drivers" should not mean people who drive "with a BAC reading higher than .08". Maybe "drunk drivers" should mean "people who are actually drunk when they drive". The institution of mechanistic BAC standards is principally a means of enabling prosecutors to "prove" that someone was "drunk" without having to trouble themselves to prove that the person was actually drunk.

Of course organizations like Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) would be perfectly happy with DUI being redefined as "having looked at some alcoholic products in the same day as driving".

And mothers saying "think of the children!" tend to have a lot of sway with politicians.

Jarl believes he's being victimized because in his line of work he's being held to a higher standard of sobriety.

For Jarl, a reading of greater than .04 BAC is considered a DUI and if I'm not mistaken, the "bottle to throttle" time lapse is 24 hours.

Is it any wonder that he's a little testy on the subject of DUI's Cops, and Drunks?

Find a different line of work, Jarl and drink like the rest of us! ;)
Actually, it's .02% for me. But I don't care, I'd be fine with .005%. I don't drink. I have cleaned up after too many drunk drivers to have any sympathy whatsoever for them. The BAC for DUI should be .01%, the penalty should be 20-life for the first offence & death by beheading for a second.

I don't know you personally, but I suspect that if you drink at all, you may have fallen into that category once or twice yourself...

I know I have....(I was just lucky enough not to have gotten stopped by Johnny Law after these "standards" were been put in place.)
I used to drink occasionally...if I had ANY alcohol, Liz drove.

In answer to your question: absolutely yes.

I am extremely cynical, consider most of the human race a waste of oxygen, and have considered them a waste of oxygen for the better part of twenty years now. I never claimed to be a particularly nice person. To the contrary: I'm the first to say I am not.

We knew that (and love it! You got invited here, din'cha?), it's finding out there's someone ultra-hyper-extreme cynical, that even you find misanthropic, that's interesting.

BTW I use my oxygen wisely and only breathe at night!

Cynicism? Hardly. Classic projection.

I concur.
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

I concur.

But people like torturing others to death; as long as there is some plausible justification for it. Look at how many people admired Bush for torturing people to death or using 'special renditon' to accomplish it.

It's much easier to inspire brutality and selfishness than decency and fairness.
